In this update we made an improvement and some bugfixes.

Show Snippets Op Open

The checkbox “Show snippets side pane” has been renamed to “Show snippets on open”.

If checked, it will open the Snippets task pane when opening Word and when writing and e-mail in Outlook.

Fill-in fields

In this release we added a great productivity enhancement; Fill-in fields.

You can now easily define fill-in fields in your snippets.

Insert a snippet with Fill-in Fields

After inserting a snippet with fill-in fields into your documents, INSERT TEXT will prompt you to fill-in the fields. After you are done, you can always go back and change the fields.

Let’s see how it works with an example.

I choose the “Credit note email” snippet.

After inserting the snippet into Outlook (or Word) the fill-in fields are recognized and you can fill in the fields directly from the sidebar.

The text you write in the fill-in fields are instantly visible in your document.

To add fill-in fields to your snippets is just as easy.

Add Fill-in Fields to your Snippets

There are a few easy steps to insert your own Fill-in Fields into your snippets.

• Open your Snippet
• Insert an existing or new fill-in field into your Snippet
• Save your Snippet
• That’s all!

Insert a new Fill-in Field into your Snippet

• Edit the Snippet you want to edit (Right click/Edit Snippet).
• Put the cursor where you want to insert the snippet.
• In the INSERT TEXT Ribbon menu, choose “Insert Fill-in field”
• In the lower part of the task bar fill in the name of the fill-in field and click “Insert new field”
• Ready

Insert an existing Fill-in field into your Snippet

• If you need the same field in more than one location, you can do that as follows
• In the previous section we inserted a new fill-in field “Customer name” into our snippet.
• After inserting this field it will show up in the list of existing fields.
• Put the cursor at the location where you want this field to be inserted as well.
• Choose the existing field (1) and click “Insert Field” (2)
• Ready

This is a small update that adds a shortcut and some bugfixes.

Shortcut key for Clone Snippet – CTRL+C

In your list with snippets you can now clone a snippet with the

key combination: CTRL+C.

Bugfixes

Shortcut key for the side pane

This is a great time and space saver. And one of our favorite additions in this release.

• With the key combination SHIFT + INS you toggle (open or close) the side pane.
• Do you want to change the key combination? Go to the Options menu and set your own key combination.

Fixed: Right click menu on selected text did not show the “Add selected as new snippet” menu options

When right clicking on selected text in the context menu you could save the selected text as a new snippet. In the previous version this menu options was not visible in the previous version. This is now solved and the menu is visible again.

Fixed: Add folder in Save new snippets form was not working

The button “Add folder” in the Save snippets form did not work . This has been resolved and now works!

Fixed: Save new snippets checks for illegal characters

• Before saving a new snippet any illegal characters are removed from the file name.

In this release we made some important improvements.

Auto update INSERT TEXT

Stay up to date automatically with auto update. Whenever there is a new update, you will get a message and can update to the latest version.

• To enable or disable auto update, please check the settings in the Options.
• In the ribbon choose Options/Options.

To check manual for updates:

• In the Ribbon choose Options/Check for Updates.

Manual

Although INSERT TEXT is easy to work with, the manual was missing.

Now this has been resolved and you find a big button Help that will open the PDF manual.

When closing the taskpane the Ribbon checkbox uncheckes

The checkbox in the Ribbon “Show snippets side pane” now correctly shows the state of the sidebar.

When the side pane is open, it will be checked:

In this release we added lots of features to make it easier to organize your folders and snippets.

Refresh and open folder added to context menu of snippet folders

When you right click on a snippet folder you have two menu options. Refresh and Open Folder in File Explorer.

The right click menu of snippets now sports two new additions: Clone and open folder.

Clone makes a copy of the current selected snippet.

Open folder in File Explorer opens the folder where the snippet is stored and selects that file.

Refresh Tables of Contents after inserting snippets

Table(s) of contents are automatically refreshed after you insert a snippet into your document.

Remember location of splitter of the forms

When you change the location of a splitter, the application will remember this location the next time you open the form or side pane.

Setup files digital signed

The setup file is now digital signed. This means you can install the file with trust.

• Resolved compatibility issue with Windows 10 and Office 2016

Show/hide snippet side pane at startup

In this new release of INSERTEXT we added a checkbox to the Ribbon to show or hide the snippets side pane while openening Word or Outlook.

• When checked the side pane with snippets will open when you start Word or create an new e-mail in Outlook.
• When unchecked the side pane will be hidden at startup.

Minor bugfixes

Some minor visual bugfixes.

Edit Snippets easier

In this version of INSERTTEXT we made it easier to edit snippets.

Right click on any snippet to edit, rename or delete it.

You can also use shortcut keys for even faster editing snippets:

• CTRL + E  –  Edit Snippet
• F2  – Rename Snippet
• Del  –  Delete Snippet.

Note about deleting

When you delete a Snippet from the context menu. The snippet is not actually deleted. It is moved to a special folder “_deleted”. Therefor you can always recover a accidentally deleted Snippet.

Remember Last Folder and Last Insert After

The app now remembers the last snippet folder you opened. It remembers this for Word and Outlook individually.

You can disable this behavior in the options if you don’t want it.
